If some of your files are too important or sensitive to fall in the wrong hands, you can use Cryptola to encrypt and password-protect them. The application doesn't provide you with more than you actually need to encrypt your files. It is designed for quick and effortless encryptions and decryptions, so you will have to spend only a few seconds to protect your data.

Cryptola is distributed as a freeware application, for all popular Windows versions. It comes as a single executable file, in a ZIP archive, so you only need to extract it and run it. There is no need to meet any special requirements and you won't have to sacrifice a significant amount of resources.

All you have to do is load a file on the application's compact user interface, through a standard Open dialog, type in a password and click a button. The application will create an encrypted copy, in the same folder as the original file. Decrypting a file can be done in a similar manner, but you have to select the "decrypt" option, before you start the operation.

There is nothing else you have to do with Cryptola. You won't find any other options, besides the ones mentioned above, but the simple truth of the matter is that you don't need any other options. According to the developer, Cryptola uses a cryptographic technology designed by the US National Security Agency (NSA), which was published by NIST as an information processing standard.

Keeping private files safe can be an effortless task, when using Cryptola .

Pros

The application has a simple design and a straightforward functionality. It uses a high-end encryption algorithm to protect your files. Also, it is capable of encrypting files quite fast, regardless of their size or format.

Cons

The possibility of encrypting multiple files at once would be a welcomed feature.
